Deauville International Polo Club and Empire Polo Club Coachella Valley are the final set of teams to join the Polo Rider Cup 2021 semi finals.
In the opening game of the June 15 matches, Deauville International Polo Club, with members Ulysse Eisenchteter (0), Patrick Eisenchteter (1), Pierre-Henri N’Goumou (6), and Juan José Storni (5), won against Evviva Polo St. Moritz, with Andreas Bihrer (0), Lucas Labat (5), Martin Aguerre (7), and Tommy Rinderknecht (0), by 10 to 7. With this result, the French team directly went up to the semifinals. Deauville International Polo Club was losing initially in the first chukker, but an amazing impressive performance of Juan José, who scored 9 goals, gave the win to his team.
The second match of the day saw the victory of Empire Polo Club Coachella Valley, composed of Clément Smith (0), Guillermo Li (4), Tito Ruiz Guiñazu (7), and Derek Smith (1), against La Aguada, with Sébastien Schneberger (0), Max Bosch (3), Adrian Laplacette (6), and Moritz Gaedeke (3). The Empire Polo Club Coachella Valley team defeated La Aguada by 6 to 2 and secured a spot in the penalty shoot-out.
The closing game of the day between Dos Lunas Polo Club, with Juan Pepa (1), Jorge Pepa (3), Patricio Cieza (6), Paul Grabosch (2), and Emil Grabosh, and Las Brisas Polo Club of Chicago, with Larry Aschebrook (0), Lukas Sdrenka (2), Juan Martin Obregon (6), and Matias Obregon (4), ended with the victory of the Spanish team in the last seconds of the fifth chukker. The final score was 7 to 6 in favor of Dos Lunas Polo Club. Larry Aschebrook from Las Brisas Polo Club of Chicago was replaced by Richard Harris and Emil Grabosh replaced Juan Pepa for Dos Lunas Polo Club.
At the end of the day, a penalty shoot-out was disputed between Evviva Polo St. Moritz and Empire Polo Club Coachella Valley to decide the second team to go to the semifinals. The American team won the penalty shootout.
