Skincare Tips We Learned During Pandemic

Pamela Piedad

We’ve been wearing face masks for what feels like forever. Unsurprisingly, this has had a negative impact on our skin, including irritation, flare-ups, and breakouts. The good news is that we still have the time to reverse all the damage and treat our skin better before embracing the holiday season.

Apart from drinking more than eight glasses of water per day and taking vitamin supplements, we have gathered more tips to get us through this time efficiently.

#1

Wash your hands

Always wash your hands before touching your face. It doesn’t matter if you didn’t go out of the house at all.

If your hands are already drying up from all the handwashing, always carry a hand lotion with you.

Try Mario Badescu Hand Cream with Vitamin E that will make keep your hands soft and smooth the entire day! Bonus: It smells very nice and has anti-aging effects to delay hand wrinkles.

Wash your face

It is important to wash your face before and after wearing a mask. This prevents bacteria build-up caused by sweating under the mask. Pick a gentle cleanser that wouldn’t dehydrate your skin.

If it’s not possible, use a cotton soaked in micellar water or your favorite facial spray to freshen up your skin.

Bioderma’s micellar water is great for all skin types and gentle enough for sensitive skin.

#3

Moisturize

Put your moisturizer on at least 30 minutes before wearing your mask. Apply more to the area where your mask would be.

If you have oily skin, try using gel moisturizers because it has a lighter texture and can be absorbed easily.

A favorite amongst Hollywood celebrities and supermodels, La Mer is known to effectively heal dry skin and restore the youthful radiance of the skin.

Lip care 101

Your lips need attention, too. Apart from wearing masks, dry winter is also a culprit for chapped lips. Get a lip balm that will moisturize and soothe your pout throughout the season.

Wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch with Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. It is enriched with vitamins, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and minerals that form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients.

#5

Skip the makeup

Need to do a quick grocery run? Skip the makeup as it will more likely clog your pores and just worsen your skin emergency.

If necessary, only use products that are labeled “non-comedogenic” to prevent clogged pores.

This tinted gel cream from bareMinerals combines the benefits of hydrating skincare, makeup, and mineral-based SPF 30 altogether.

Whether your skin needs hydration, brightening, or moisturizing, there is a perfect sheet mask for you. Get one (or two) and treat yourself!

Tatcha’s sheet masks are silky soft and packed with a hydrating blend of ingredients that promises an extra glow.

Self-care during these times is essential, and these takeaways we’ve gotten will be taken to heart even after the pandemic ends or the winter season bids goodbye. As we all know, different masks have different guidelines. Be sure to dispose of your medical masks as it’s only for one-time use. Meanwhile, always ensure that your cloth masks get proper cleaning to remove all the nasty things collected inside—aka germs, oils, and dead skin cells. Don’t neglect yor skin and apply these above tips to your daily routine, now!
