Ellerstina Polo Club is hailed as the winner of the 2022 POLO RIDER Cup. The team beat Evviva Polo St. Moritz, with the final score of 9 to 7, held at the Polo Club de Chantilly.
The winning team is composed of Sam Sztarkman, Salvador Jauretche, Juan Pedro Chavanne, and Alex Sztarkman. Meanwhile, the opposing team carried members Tommy Rinderknecht, Lucie Venot, Ignacio Kennedy, Martin Aguerre H, and Robert Kofler.
In the first chukker, Salvador opened the score from a field goal in the first seconds of the chukker. Martin equaled the match from a penalty goal. Just before the end of the bell, Juan Pedro opened his account with a neck shot, arriving at 2 to 1.
Four more goals were scored in the second chukker for Ellerstina, and the gap increased to 6 to 1. After the third chukker, which ended in 8 to 2, Lucie replaced Tommy.
A fantastic comeback from Evviva Polo St. Moritz in the fifth chukker put emotion into the game. Two goals from Ignacio and Martin closed the gap to 9 to 5.
In the last chukker, Evviva Polo St. Moritz scored two more goals from Ignacio and Martin again. However, the final result ended with 9 to 7 goals in favor of the Argentina team—giving them the POLO RIDER Cup victory.
Salvador was named the MVP for the tournament. Ignacio, with the pony ‘La Virgen’, won the Best Playing Pony of the match. With 34 goals, Martin was the Best Scorer, and Emil Grabosh was the Rookie of the tournament.
Earlier, a match was held to decide the third and fourth place between Empire Polo Club of Coachella Valley and Polo Club de Chantilly. It ended with the victory of Empire Polo Club by 7 to 4.
Members of the triumphant team include Clément Smith, Guillermo Li, Adrian Laplacette, and Derek Smith. Polo Club de Chantilly’s team have Jean-Clauce Le Grand, Dorian Bulteau, Louis Jarrige, and Julien Reynes in their lineup.
Adrian, who replaced Tito and scored six goals, opened the scoring. The first two chukkers ended with a tie result, and Julian placed Chantilly in front of the score for the first time.
However, another two field goals from Adrian resulted in 4 to 3 at the end of the fourth chukker.
In the fifth chukker, Adrian increased the gap by 6 to 3 goals. Louis shortened the gap, but another goal in the last chukker from Adrian gave the win to the American team.
